SUMMARY:Flow in Action: Identifying Bottlenecks and Improving Delivery
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by TJ Badru.\nSmooth delivery rarely happens by acc
ident. High-performing Agile teams intentionally manage the flow of work to
reduce delays\, eliminate bottlenecks\, and improve predictability. This wo
rkshop introduces participants to Lean Flow principles and practical techni
ques for identifying workflow bottlenecks. Through interactive activities a
nd case studies\, attendees will explore how Work in Progress (WIP)\, aging
work\, dependencies\, and handoffs impact delivery.\nThe session emphasize
s practical coaching techniques that help teams improve flow without increa
sing pressure or encouraging micromanagement.\nLearning Objectives\nPartici
pants will:Understand the importance of flow in Agile delivery.Identify com
mon causes of bottlenecks.Learn techniques for improving workflow.Apply Lea
n principles to everyday Agile delivery challenges.\nWho Should Attend?\nTh
is session is ideal for:Scrum MastersAgile CoachesProduct OwnersDelivery Ma
nagersProject and Program ManagersTeam LeadsBusiness AnalystsAnyone respons
ible for improving team delivery\, reducing bottlenecks\, and optimizing wo
 rkflow\nKey Takeaways\nBy the end of this session\, participants will:Under
stand why flow is one of the most important indicators of Agile team perfor
mance.Learn how to identify bottlenecks\, excessive work in progress (WIP)\
, and aging work before they impact delivery.Recognize how dependencies\, h
andoffs\, and context switching slow down delivery.Apply Lean principles to
improve workflow and increase predictability.Explore practical strategies
for limiting WIP and maintaining a steady flow of value.Gain facilitation t
echniques to help teams identify and resolve workflow challenges during ret
rospectives and daily stand-ups.Leave with actionable ideas for improving d
elivery without increasing workload or creating unnecessary pressure on the
team.\nInteractive Activity\nThe Flow Simulation ChallengeParticipants wil
l work in small teams to analyze the workflow of a fictional Agile team exp
eriencing delivery delays. Using a visual Kanban board and a set of work it
ems\, each group will identify bottlenecks\, excessive Work in Progress (WI
P)\, aging work\, dependencies\, and other factors affecting flow.Teams wil
l then collaborate to redesign the workflow by applying Lean and Agile prin
ciples to improve efficiency\, reduce delays\, and increase predictability.
Each group will present their recommendations and explain how their propos
ed changes would improve the team's ability to deliver value consistently.T
he session will conclude with a facilitated discussion comparing the differ
ent approaches and highlighting best practices that participants can immedi
ately apply within their own teams.
