Facilitated by TJ. Badru.
Hands-on workshop where everyone builds a small feature using AI tools. Learn by doing, iterate with AI, and prepare for Sprint 1.
Today You Become a Builder:
This is the moment where theory becomes practice. Today, you’ll actually build something with AI. By the end of this session, you’ll have working code and confidence.
Workshop Structure:
• Morning: Guided tutorial building together
• Afternoon: Independent practice with support
• Throughout: Demos, troubleshooting, peer learning
Guided Tutorial: Build a Donation Button
We’ll all build the same simple feature together:
1. Write the prompt to Claude describing the feature
2. Review and iterate on the generated code
3. Test it in the browser
4. Make styling adjustments
5. Add functionality improvements
6. Deploy to see it live
Learning by Building:
• How to read AI-generated code (even if you’re not a coder)
• Common errors and how to fix them
• Testing techniques for AI-generated features
• Debugging when things don’t work
• When to ask AI for help vs. manual fixes
Hands-On Practice Time:
Choose a feature from your project to build:
• Donation amount selector
• Access code entry form
• Resource card display
• Search functionality
• Simple dashboard widget
AI Development Workflow:
1. Write detailed prompt describing the feature
2. Review the generated code
3. Test in browser or local environment
4. Identify issues or improvements needed
5. Iterate with AI to refine
6. Document what you built
7. Prepare to demo to the team
Real-Time Troubleshooting:
• Instructors circulating to help
• Screen sharing for problem-solving
• Learning from each other’s challenges
• Common pitfalls and solutions
• Building confidence through practice
Design Consistency:
• Using agile103.com design system
• Colors: Blue (#1292EE), Red (#f51212), Gray (#f2f2f2)
• Fonts: Inter, Poppins
• Responsive design considerations
• Accessibility basics
Sprint 1 Planning:
• Review Sprint 1 backlog together
• Assign stories to team members
• Commit to Sprint Goal as a team
• Plan daily standup schedule (async or sync?)
• Set expectations for next week’s demo
Team Organization:
• Roles: Who’s Product Owner? Scrum Master?
• Communication: Slack, WhatsApp, Discord?
• Standups: When and how?
• Code reviews: Who reviews what?
• Help system: How to unblock yourself?
What You’ll Deliver This Week:
• At least one working feature built with AI
• Understanding of vibe coding workflow
• Sprint 1 assignments and commitments
• Team working agreements finalized
• Ready to start development on Monday!
Benefits of Attending This Session:
Participants will have hands-on experience with AI development tools, confidence that they can actually build features, clear Sprint 1 plan with assignments, and a support system for the week ahead. You’re not just learning – you’re building!
