Facilitated By Ola M.

A dashboard is only as useful as the questions it answers. This hands-on lab walks through building a real Jira dashboard from scratch — not just adding widgets, but designing a dashboard that actually tells a story to the audience looking at it.

Building on the Jira JQL session from Q2, participants will use saved JQL filters to power gadgets, design dashboards for two different audiences (the team itself, and leadership), and leave with a dashboard they can adapt for their own work or portfolio.

Learning Objectives

Turn a saved JQL filter into a live Jira dashboard gadget.
Design a dashboard layout that answers specific questions for a specific audience.
Distinguish between a “team health” dashboard and a “leadership status” dashboard.
Avoid common dashboard mistakes: too many gadgets, no clear story, vanity metrics.

Who Should Attend?

Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Project/Program Managers who use (or want to use) Jira for visibility and reporting, and anyone building a portfolio piece for interviews.

Key Takeaways

A working Jira dashboard built live during the session.
A repeatable process for designing dashboards around real questions, not just available data.
A portfolio-ready artifact to show in interviews.
