Advanced Google Sheets & Excel for Agile Reporting & Custom Metrics

Facilitated by TJ Badru.

Not every team has a Jira license, and even teams that do often turn to spreadsheets for quick, flexible reporting. This hands-on session covers how to build professional Agile reporting — burndown charts, velocity trends, and custom dashboards — using Google Sheets and Excel.

We’ll build a live burndown chart and a simple velocity tracker step by step, cover formulas that make weekly updates fast instead of painful, and talk through when a spreadsheet is genuinely the right tool versus when it’s time to push for a proper Agile tool.

Learning Objectives

Build a burndown chart and a velocity tracker from scratch in Google Sheets or Excel.
Learn formulas (SUMIFS, pivot tables, conditional formatting) that make weekly reporting fast.
Design a simple, readable dashboard for different audiences (team vs. leadership).
Know when spreadsheet reporting is a smart choice versus a workaround.

Who Should Attend?

Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Project/Program Managers who need to report on team metrics but don’t have (or don’t want to rely on) a dedicated Agile tool.

Key Takeaways

A ready-to-reuse spreadsheet template for burndown and velocity tracking.
A handful of formulas that will save hours of manual updates over a quarter.
A framework for deciding what to report to whom, and how often.
