Stop scrolling through your backlog. Start querying it.
Welcome to Jira JQL:
JQL — Jira Query Language — is one of the most underused and most powerful features in Jira. If you’re still filtering your board manually or relying on default views, this session will change how you work in Jira forever.
What We’ll Cover:
- What JQL is and how it works (no coding experience required)
- JQL syntax basics: fields, operators, values, and keywords
- The most useful JQL queries every Agile practitioner should know:
- All issues assigned to me in the current sprint
- Issues updated in the last 7 days
- Unresolved bugs by priority
- Stories without acceptance criteria
- Everything due this week
- How to save queries as filters and share them with your team
- Building dashboards in Jira using your saved JQL filters
- Advanced JQL: using AND, OR, NOT, ORDER BY, and functions like currentUser(), startOfWeek()
Live Hands-On Practice:
This is not a lecture. Every student will write and run real JQL queries in their own Jira instance during the session. Bring your Jira login — free or paid accounts both work.
Who Should Attend:
• Scrum Masters who want better visibility into sprint health
• Product Owners managing large backlogs
• Anyone who uses Jira daily and wants to work smarter, not harder
Benefits of Attending This Session:
Participants will leave with a personal library of JQL queries they can use immediately, the ability to build custom dashboards, and a skill that makes them more valuable on any Agile team.
