Scope creep is one of the biggest challenges faced by Scrum teams, especially when working with stakeholders who continuously request new features or changes during the Sprint. In this session, we will explore the causes of scope creep and discuss proactive strategies for managing and preventing it within Scrum projects. While Scrum is designed to embrace change, unchecked scope adjustments can lead to missed deadlines, overworked teams, and decreased product quality. We will examine real-life scenarios where scope creep derailed a project and discuss how these situations could have been avoided through better communication, clear requirements, and strong stakeholder management.
Participants will learn how to say “no” diplomatically when necessary, and how to negotiate changes in a way that ensures they don’t interfere with achieving the Sprint Goal. The importance of establishing and maintaining a clear Definition of Done will also be covered, ensuring that all parties are aligned on what constitutes a finished product.Through interactive discussions and role-playing exercises, participants will practice handling scope adjustments with stakeholders, keeping them involved in the decision-making process while protecting the integrity of the Sprint.
By the end of the session, attendees will have a clear strategy for preventing scope creep and ensuring that their Scrum teams remain focused and productive, even in the face of changing requirements.
