Launch the Q1 hands-on project! Learn discovery techniques and conduct real stakeholder interviews to understand what we’re building and why.
Welcome to Your First Real Agile Project:
For the next eight weeks, you’ll experience a complete Agile project lifecycle. You’re not just learning about Agile – you’re doing Agile. Building real features that thousands of people will use.
The Two Projects:
1. Donation Page: Enable community members to financially support Agile 103
2. Resource Library: Provide gated access to templates, recordings, and guides
Discovery Phase – Starting Right:
• What is discovery and why it matters
• Understanding the problem before jumping to solutions
• Identifying stakeholders and their needs
• Conducting effective stakeholder interviews
• Documenting insights and opportunities
Stakeholder Interview Training:
• Interview techniques and question frameworks
• Active listening and probing deeper
• Avoiding leading questions
• Synthesizing interview findings
• Turning insights into requirements
Live Stakeholder Interviews:
Students will conduct real interviews with:
• Agile 103 admins (the “clients”)
• Community members (the “users”)
• Akiniyi (the technical stakeholder)
Questions to Explore:
• Why do we need these features?
• Who will use them and how?
• What problems are we solving?
• What does success look like?
• What constraints do we need to consider?
Discovery Activities:
• Problem statement development
• Stakeholder mapping
• Initial requirements gathering
• Identifying assumptions and risks
• Competitive analysis (how do other communities do this?)
Team Formation Begins:
• Introduction to your project teammates
• Discussing roles and responsibilities
• Setting team norms and working agreements
• Choosing communication channels
• Planning how you’ll work together
What You’ll Deliver This Week:
• Completed stakeholder interview notes
• Stakeholder map showing all involved parties
• Initial problem statements for both features
• List of assumptions that need validation
• Team working agreement document
Benefits of Attending This Session:
Participants will learn discovery techniques used in real product development, practice stakeholder interviews with actual stakeholders, understand the features we’re building and why they matter, and connect with project teammates. This is where your Agile journey becomes real!
