Facilitated by Tox B.
The best Scrum Masters don’t run meetings. They grow teams.
Welcome to the Scrum Master as Agile Coach:
There’s a big difference between a Scrum Master who facilitates ceremonies and one who actively coaches their team toward high performance. This session explores what it means to shift from process facilitator to genuine Agile coach — and gives you the tools to make that shift.
What We’ll Cover:
• The four stances of the Scrum Master: Teacher, Facilitator, Coach, Mentor
• Coaching vs. mentoring vs. consulting — when to use each
• The GROW coaching model: Goal, Reality, Options, Will
• Powerful questions that help teams find their own answers
• How to coach the Product Owner, the team, and the organization
• Recognizing and addressing team dysfunctions (using the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team model)
• How to help a team that is stuck, disengaged, or resistant to change
• Servant leadership in practice: what it looks like day to day
• Building team autonomy without abandoning accountability
• When to intervene and when to let the team struggle productively
Coaching Scenarios We’ll Practice:
• A developer who keeps missing commitments but won’t discuss it
• A PO who writes tickets at 11pm the night before sprint planning
• A team that blames everyone else for their problems
• A Scrum Master who is doing everything and burning out
Benefits of Attending This Session:
Participants will leave with a coaching toolkit they can apply immediately, a set of powerful questions for common team situations, and a clearer picture of what Agile coaching mastery looks like at every stage of a team’s journey.
