Facilitated by Tox B.
Dive deep into the three Scrum roles and understand the unique accountabilities and responsibilities that make Scrum teams effective.
Why Understanding Roles Matters:
Many Scrum implementations fail because of confusion about roles and responsibilities. This session clarifies what each role is truly accountable for and how they work together.
Product Owner – The Value Maximizer:
• Accountability for maximizing the value of the product
• Managing and refining the Product Backlog
• Clearly expressing Product Backlog items
• Ordering items to best achieve goals and missions
• Ensuring the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, and clear
Scrum Master – The Servant Leader:
• Accountability for establishing Scrum as defined in the Scrum Guide
• Helping everyone understand Scrum theory and practice
• Removing impediments to the Development Team’s progress
• Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed
• Coaching the team and organization in Scrum adoption
Development Team – The Builders:
• Accountability for creating a valuable, useful Increment each Sprint
• Self-organizing to determine how to accomplish their work
• Cross-functional with all skills needed to create an Increment
• No sub-teams or hierarchies within the Development Team
• Collective accountability for the Sprint Goal
Common Misconceptions We’ll Address:
• The Product Owner is not a project manager
• The Scrum Master is not a team manager
• Development Teams are not just developers
• How these roles differ from traditional project roles
Benefits of Attending This Session:
Participants will clearly understand the accountability of each role, recognize anti-patterns and dysfunction in role implementation, and learn how these roles collaborate for maximum effectiveness.
